The story behind the duo

Meet COAST

Based in Holly, Michigan, Jake Long and Stephen Michael accidentally formed COAST in summer 2025 while sharing a gig. Steve invited Jake to join him for a private party in Boyne City, where the hosts wanted “band energy but chill.” Set up on a patio beside a bonfire overlooking Lake Charlevoix, they played from sunset into the night for about a hundred people who welcomed them like old friends. It became the best gig they had ever played.

On the long drive home the next day, they agreed: “If every gig were a bonfire on a beach, life would pretty much be perfect. Why can’t we do that?” COAST grew from that question.

Before forming COAST, Steve—vocals and acoustic guitar—had tallied more than 1,000 bookings as a solo act and had been a full-time musician since 2018. Jake—drum kit and cajon—had played more than 200 shows around Metro Detroit in various bands.

Steve personally reviews every request and responds within 24 hours.

A natural fit

Polished enough for the agenda. Relaxed enough for the people.

The duo can shape its volume and energy around arrivals, conversation, presentations, dinner, and the part of the event when everyone is finally off the clock.

Good to knowFrequently Asked Questions

Questions before you ask about a date

Can COAST play while people network?

Yes. Conversation-friendly music is one of the duo’s strengths. We can plan a restrained arrival or networking set and build energy later if the event calls for it.

Can you work around speeches or presentations?

Yes. Include the program outline in your request, even if it is still preliminary. We will define the performance window and transitions around the parts of the agenda that cannot move.

Do you handle branded content or recorded promotions?

Those uses need a separate conversation about approval and media rights. Tell us if sponsorship, recording, livestreaming, advertising, or branded content is central to the event so we can plan it correctly from the start.
