Frequently Asked Questions
COAST’s standard format is 60 minutes of live music in the first scheduled hour. Each additional scheduled hour includes approximately 45 minutes of live music and a break of about 15 minutes. Pricing is based on the full scheduled live-music window, not only the minutes spent actively performing.
Travel is calculated round trip. The first 40 round-trip miles and first 40 round-trip minutes are included. Beyond that, travel adds $0.70 for each excess mile plus $0.50 for each excess minute. Both excess amounts are added together.
Submitting the form does not reserve a date. For a private event, the date becomes fully reserved after the agreement is signed and the 50% retainer has cleared. The retainer is based on the full projected total, including projected travel; the agreement explains how any later cancellation adjustment is handled.
COAST highly appreciates recurring booking relationships by offering significant live-music discounts and waiving setup and breakdown fees, while travel and other applicable fees still apply. Eligible recurring relationships use a written annual agreement covering scheduled music-window hours per year. To receive the maximum discount, 15 hours of music-window time must be met, though discounts scale between full price and the maximum discount. An ordinary date is confirmed when COAST accepts it and places it on the COAST calendar. Protected-date terms are available when a client wants greater certainty earlier. A protected date retains half of the hourly discount earned by the relationship, and its scheduled music-window time counts toward the yearly 15-hour commitment. Any distance is possible; however, COAST is based in Holly, Michigan, and regularly performs at events across Southern Michigan within roughly a 100-mile radius. Share the exact address and Steve will confirm fit and round-trip travel in the quote. Destinations of any distance are considered, but may incur additional fees.
Yes. Outdoor events need reliable power, a safe and level performance area, shade/weather protection, and an appropriate plan for weather or other disruptive possibilities. COAST can arrange to provide moderate protection from sun and weather, which requires at least 30 minutes of additional arrival and departure time plus an associated fee. COAST will confirm the practical requirements for your setting before the date is finalized. Options for remote power, when out of range of an electrical outlet, can be provided when requested.
Yes - Live and prepared / pre-requested. Tell COAST which songs, artists, or moments matter to you when browsing their request survey during the booking process. Requests help shape the direction of the music while COAST reacts to the mood and energy of the moment. COAST also welcomes learn-requests for when your favorite or must-have music is not already in their repertoire.
For many bookings, COAST brings and operates a self-contained sound system for the duo. If your venue or production already provides house sound, share those details so Steve can confirm responsibilities and connections before the event.
The smallest possible footprint is 8 ft by 6 ft; a comfortable footprint is 12 ft by 8 ft. The duo needs a safe, level performance area and reliable power, but the exact footprint depends on the room, stage, and sound arrangement. Share dimensions, photos, or a venue contact when you inquire and COAST will confirm a practical setup.
